To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Chaim[1], the shochet*,

Greetings and blessings,

I had been thinking that I had not had news of you for quite some time, and I was therefore very gratified to receive some through the great Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Meir Ashkenazi. He told me that, baruch Hashem*, you are well.

I was also pleased to learn that you have visited Mr.... If you do so from time to time, I am certain that you will be able to exercise a positive influence upon him and draw him closer to Yiddishkeit*. If, in addition, you find a way to assist him materially, he will be much more attentive to the spiritual message you communicate to him.

I am surprised that you make no mention of farbrengens*, for example on Shabbos* at midday or at a Melaveh Malkah*[2] organized in your city. You will surely find one or two persons interested in such an activity, and in the end you will succeed in drawing a wide attendance to it. It is difficult to evaluate from the outset what such gatherings can contribute toward drawing Jewish hearts closer to their Father in Heaven.

I hope that these few words will succeed in convincing you of the necessity of acting upon your acquaintances and of organizing such gatherings. You will surely do so without great effort, and I am sure that you will obtain positive results.

. . .ובנוגע לנסיעתם לאירלנד ,הנה בכלל מהראוי הוא שימצאו אופן

איך שיהי׳ בנסיעה זו ג״כ פרנסה רוחנית ,מובן הדבר עד כמה שגדול ענין

פרנסה גשמית ג״כ ,עפ״י המבואר בנגלה דתורה ובפרט כפי שנתבאר בתורת

החסידות ,אבל אעפ״כ משהו לא נוח ,מנין חסידים ותמימים נוסעים פעם

פעמיים ושלוש ,שוחטים מאות בהמות ,מקבלים תשלום בשטרלינג או

פרנקים ,וחוזרים הביתה ,בעיני בשר עכ״פ לא נראה בזה ,שום מילוי

שליחות בעלמא דין ,ולא ]איזו שהיא[ עדינות בכלל.

מסופר שבזמן אדמו״ר האמצעי ,היתה הוראה לכל החסידים שבאו

לליובאוויטש ,שבנסיעתם חזרה ,או יותר נכון בהליכתם חזרה ,יחזרו

חסידות בכל המקומות שהם עוברים ,ואפילו בעיירות קטנות ביותר ,בכל

מקום שדרכם חזרה עוברת ,למרות שתכלית נסיעתם או הליכתם

לליובאוויטש היתה להיות בליובאוויטש ולחזור הביתה ,וכל המקומות

שבהם עברו לא היו אצלם מקום המפסיק ,אלא דבר המחבר.

מובטחני שלאחר הסתכלות החזקה כמבואר בכתבי כ״ק מו״ח

אדמו״ר מהו ענין ההסתכלות וכו׳ הנה למרות זה שתכלית הנסיעה

לאירלנד היא להשתכר לפרנסתם ופרנסת ב״ב יחיו ולחזור למקום דירתם,

הנה בטח גם במקומות והענינים שבינתים יש לפעול מה ,אשר יהי׳ ניכר

שהי׳ זה ע״י עסק של חסידים ותמימים ומקושרים של כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר.

ויה״ר שימצאו עבודה המתאמת ואופן המתאים שגם בנסיעה זו

יוסיפו עכ״פ מעט אור בחושך העולם.

בברכה לנסיעה כשורה ועבודה בהצלחה ופ״ש כל חבורתו שתחי׳.
