and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,
I am replying to your letter of Monday of Parshas Eikev and to the previous ones.
It is with great joy that I would like to inform you of the fruition of the idea that you had[2] in 5705[3] — that of publishing the maamarim* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, thanks to the contributions of donors. Various reasons, hindrances, veils, and obstacles delayed its realization until now.
The day before yesterday, the eve of the 20th of Menachem Av[4], the first volume of these maamarim was brought back from the bindery. It contains those that were delivered during the summer of 5700[5]. It is said that "the wine belongs to its owner, but one thanks the one who serves it"[6]. Now, it is indeed you who were at the origin of this project, beginning to see its concrete realization.
When will the following volumes be printed and bound? I do not know, for my activities are numerous and my workload is great. Nevertheless, I have good hope that it will be in the near future.
This book has been sent to you, by separate parcel, with the brochure on the communal activities[7]. You have surely already received them.

במענה על מכתבו מב' עקב והקודמים לו:
... בשמחה גדולה הנני לבשרו שסו"ס בא לפועל התחלת הרעיון שעורר הוא בשנת תש"ה והוא שידפיסו את מאמרי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע ע"ח המתנדבים אז (ומפני כמה סבות מניעות העלמות והסתרים נתאחר הדבר) ושלשום ערב כ' מנ"א הביאו מבית הכורך את הכרך הראשון של מאמרים אלו, והוא כרך מאמרי קיץ ה'ש"ת וחמרא למרי וטיבותא לשקי' והוא עורר את הרעיון אשר עתה התחיל להתגשם בפו"מ, מתי יודפסו ויוכרכו הכרכים הבאים אינני יודע מפני רוב הטרדות וגודל העבודה.
אבל בכ"ז תקותי חזקה שיהי' זה בעתיד הקרוב לפ"ע.
ספר המאמרים הנ"ל נשלח לו בחבילה בפ"ע ביחד עם קונטרס עסקנות ציבורית, ובודאי יאשר קבלתם.
