To the students of the yeshivah* and to the chassidim* of Montreal,

whom Hashem will grant long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with satisfaction your reports of the chassidic gatherings and of the assemblies for strengthening Torah and Yiddishkeit* in general, and chassidus* in particular, on the occasion of the passage through your city of the Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Ben Tzion Shem Tov, emissary of the Sages.

One who undertakes the fulfillment of a mitzvah* is asked to pursue it in this direction and to bring it to its completion. I therefore have good hope that you will not content yourselves with appointing a committee and beginning the activity in all areas. You will pursue it as well, and even broaden it, since for everything that concerns kedushah*, one must go forward, as Iggeres HaKodesh* indicates in chapter 14.

I thank you in advance for the good news that you will give me, from time to time, of the fruitful evolution that you will be able to observe in this matter.

I will conclude now by expressing the wish that you make use, as is fitting, of the festival of liberation of 12-13 Tammuz, according to the conditions of the place and the moment. Thus it will be established, even in Canada, that this is indeed the festival of our liberation and of the deliverance of our soul.

There will result from this an encouragement and a strengthening in all the domains discussed in the letter of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, which is printed in kuntres no. 59.

In greeting the entire community and with my brochah for success in your sacred mission, which is also the channel conveying all material and spiritual good in your personal and communal needs,

בנועם קבלתי את הדו"ח ע"ד ההתועדויות והאסיפות לחיזוק התורה והיהדות בכלל ותורת החסידות בפרט בעת היות במחנם הרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצצ"ב וכו' מהור"ר בן ציון שי' שם טוב שד"ר, ותקותי אשר מאחר שהמתחיל במצוה אומרים לו המשך וגמור, במילא לא יסתפקו בבחירת הועדים ובהתחלת ההתעסקות בכל הענינים, אלא ג"כ ימשיכו בזה וכדרך כל דבר שבקדושה יהי' הולך וגדול ומעלין בקדש (עייג"כ אגה"ק סי"ד), ות"ח מראש על הבשורות טובות מהתפתחות הענינים בהצלחה, מזמן לזמן...

אסיים בשל עתה לעוררם אשר בטח ינצלו את ימי חג הגאולה יב-יג תמוז הבע"ל באופן המתאים לפי תנאי המקום והזמן שיהי' ניכר גם בקנדה שזהו חג גאולתנו ופדות נפשנו, ויביא להתעוררות והתחזקות בכל הענינים המדוברים במכתב כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר (נדפס בקונטרס נט).
