To the Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem,

descendant of an illustrious lineage, devoting himself

to communal needs, Rav Azriel Zelig[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter of 24 Sivan, and I was glad to learn that the Kollel Chabad[2] manages four tzedakah* funds, which are broadening their activity. All this is very important and meets the needs of the moment.

I would like to underscore to you the following point, which it is surely still time to rectify. The name that you have chosen for these funds, Otzar Chabad[3], is not at all suitable, since it is already used for spiritual concerns, for example for the publication of the manuscripts of our masters.

You will therefore remove the name Otzar Chabad and you will say simply: "Central tzedakah fund of the Kollel Chabad, in Yerushalayim." It would be good to add also the letters Tav and Vav[4].

שלום וברכה!
. . .תקותי שכאשר אינו יכול ח״ו ללכת לבית הכנסת ,שומר הוא בכל
זאת את שיעוריו בלימוד בהיותו בבית ,שזה עצמו עצה וסגולה שבקרוב
מאוד יוכל ללכת לבית הכנסת ללמוד את השיעורים ברבים,
בטח יודע מהמנהג החסידי שהבעל שם טוב הנהיג ,שיעבדו את השם
יתברך בשמחה ,שעל ידי זה אפשר לפעול יותר מאשר ע״י העבודה בצד ההפכי,
כי שמחה פורץ גדר ,וכאשר השמחה היא כפי רצון השם יתברך ,באהבת השם,
אהבת התורה ואהבת ישראל ,אזי נותן הקב״ה מ Tו המלאה הפתוחה
הקדושה והרחבה ,שיהי׳ ממה לשמוח ללא חשבונות מיותרים.
הנני מצפה לבשורה טובה ממנו שבריאותו השתפרה והוא ממשיך
ללכת לבית הכנסת ,כמנהגו הטוב.
ואחתום בברכה לאריכות ימים ושנים טובות ,שהפירוש כפול:
כפשוטו ,שנים ארוכות ובריאות ,ובנוסף לכך ,שהשנים באמת טובות
ומלאות בטוב ,ואין טוב אלא תורה ומצוה.
