To the Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself

to communal needs, Rav Chaim Zusya[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I was pleased to receive your letter of 24 Sivan, which most likely is in reply to mine, which I had transmitted to you through Rav Avrohom Pariz[2], because I did not know your address.

I was glad to learn that you have ceaselessly carried out, and still now carry out, positive activities in the field of good chinuch*. Without doubt, you will pursue this sacred mission, which is fundamental in every era and even more so in ours, especially in Eretz Yisroel.

As for your personal question, you tell me that you are presently negotiating on behalf of a school which depends on a political party[3]. I am somewhat surprised by this. Why not invest your efforts within the four cubits of Chabad?

I do not yet know for what reason you left Lod. In any event, if you do not wish to work in that city under the responsibility of the directing team that is found there, I will formulate the following proposal. Your letter indicates that you can play a determining role in the creation of schools and in the collection of funds on the spot.

In your letter, you ask me about that school. It would be good to inform yourself about the possibility of creating, in Eretz Yisroel, institutions which would be affiliated with the school network constituted in Morocco and bearing the name of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, "Oholei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch"[4].

In this network, certain institutions teach the alphabet. There are also seminaries for the training of teachers and rabbonim*. For the moment, we will not be able to send you significant funding from here. On the other hand, I will be able to find a person who will take charge of some expenses during the early period, on condition that all this be followed by results — not only that these schools be created, but that they also function in the best manner. You will inform me about all this.

Obviously, if it is impossible to create schools in this fashion, you will take part in the educational activity of an Orthodox institution, even if it is affiliated with a party. Such a proposal is acceptable.

I hope that you will keep the commitment made in your letter and that you are making all the necessary efforts to marry. Hashem will soon have you find a good match, in the manner that suits you, materially and spiritually.

שלום וברכה!

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו מכ"ד סיון (שבטח זהו מענה על מכתבי ששלחתי לו על כתבת הרה"ח ר' אברהם פאריז, באשר לא ידעתי כתבתו) ונהניתי לקרוא בו שכל העת וגם עתה מתעסק הוא בפעולות טובות בשדה החנוך הכשר. ובטח גם להבא ימשיך בעבודה הקדושה זו הנחוצה בכל עת ובפרט עתה וביותר באה"ק ת"ו.

בנוגע לשאלתו הפרטית, מה שמנהל עתה מו"מ בענין מוסד העומד תחת רשות מפלגה, הנה קצת פליאה בעיני, שהרי לכאורה הרי יכול להשקיע כחותיו באופן שיהי' בד' אמות של חב"ד, ואיני יודע עד עתה הסיבות שהעתיק מלוד, אבל בכל אופן אם רצונו לעבוד שלא בלוד ושלא תחת רשות הנהלה דשם הנה הצעתי בזה, שכיון שנראה ממכתבו יש בידו לקחת חלק בראש ביסוד מוסדות חינוך וגם באופן שהאמצעים לזה נמצאים שם על אתר, וכמו במוסד שהוא שואל חוות דעתי עתה במכתבו זה, הנה כדאי הוא שיתענין בהאפשר[ו]ת לייסד שם (באה"ק ת"ו) ג"כ מוסדות שיכנסו ברשת המוסדות חינוך שיסדו במרוקה ונקראים ע"ש כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר "אהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש" אשר ברשת מוסדות חינוך אלו נמצאים מוסדות החל מלימוד אלף בית עד בית מדרש למורים ורבנים, ואף כי אין בידינו - לע"ע - לשלוח מכאן אמצעים גדולים, אבל על הוצאות קטנות לזמן הראשון בטח אוכל למצוא מקור לזה ובלבד שיהי' בזה ענין של ממש. לא רק המציאות, אלא ג"כ מתאים לכוונה הפנימית ובטח יודיעני פרטים בזה.

מובן שבאם אי אפשר לייסד מוסד ע"ד הנ"ל, אזי גם ההצעה להשתתף בעבודה של מוסד חנוך חרדי אף שקשור במפלגה, הנה הצעה זו נכונה היא.

אקוה שימלא מה שכותב במכתבו שמשתדל במרץ הראוי בנוגע לשידוך, והשי"ת יזמין לו זיווגו בקרוב ובאופן המתאים לפניו בגשמיות וברוחניות.
