Igrot Kodesh · Letter 107 — Sukkot — One Sukkah, One People, One Shepherd

To the important Rav, great scholar,

Rabbi Moshe Leib Rothstein [1],

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your wishes for the new year, which I have just received. I send you, in turn, my blessing, for you and your family. I wish you to be inscribed and sealed for a good year, to receive all good, a visible and tangible good.

I have asked that a copy of the message to soldiers [2] and an announcement about it be sent to you so that you may transmit them to the "Chicago Courier." Please let me know what you were able to do about this.

I wrote to Messrs. Palmer and Katz [3], whose donations enabled the printing of the Rebbe's words. I sent each one a letter explaining some words of our Sages. I am now writing to them again [4] and sending them a copy of the booklet, which has just been published.

Messrs. Palmer and Katz did not confirm having received my first letter. I would therefore be grateful if you could, at your convenience, verify this and let me know.

Our Sages say that all the people of Israel could fit in a single Sukkah*. On the occasion of the festival of Sukkot, may we therefore soon witness the fulfillment of the promise according to which (Yechezkel* 37:22): "I will make of you a single nation. David, My servant, will reign over you and you will all have one shepherd."

כאשר קבלנו נדבות מר פאלמער וכץ שי' להדפסת השיחה כתבתי לכאו"א מכ' ובתוכו איזה מרז"ל עם קצת ביאור. וכן גם עתה כותב הנני, יחד עם שלחי השיחה, שזה עתה יצאה לאור, מכ' כנ"ל.

באשר לא אשרו מר פאלמער וכץ קבלת מכ' הנ"ל, ת"ח לו מראש אם בהזדמנות הראוי' יוודע עד"ז ויודיענו.

ולקראת חה"ס הבע"ל אשר אמרז"ל (סוכה כז, ב) ראויים כל ישראל לישב בסוכה אחת, יה"ר שנזכה במהרה בימינו לקיום היעוד (יחזקאל לז, כב) ועשיתי אותם לגוי אחד גו' ועבדי דוד מלך עליהם ורועה אחד יהי' לכולם.
