To the Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem,

Rav Yosef[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter of Wednesday of Parshas Shelach, with the request for a brochah enclosed with it. I will read the latter at the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, when I find myself there. Without doubt, he will arouse Divine mercy so that the Almighty fulfill, in a positive manner, all the wishes of your heart.

I will repeat to you once again what I already wrote to you some time ago. You must set a fixed time to study Torah and recite Tehillim* punctiliously, every day, according to their monthly division.

You wrote to me, on one occasion, that you were particularly busy. Here, then, is the solution. One must show the Holy One, blessed be He, that despite the inadequacy and the difficulties, you maintain a fixed time for study. Thus, Hashem will fulfill His promise, according to which "if you walk in My statutes, I will give your rains in their season." Rashi explains: "If you walk in My statutes — that you toil in Torah."[2]

Through this effort, "I will give your rains in their season," that is, more profoundly, all your material needs[3], when they are necessary, without worry, in order to be able to serve Hashem, in tranquility of spirit and body.

With my brochah that you settle yourself positively, materially and spiritually together,

קבלתי מכ' מיום ד' שלח עם הפ"נ, ולכשאהי' על ציון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע אקרא הפ"נ ובטח יעורר ר"ר שימלא השי"ת משאלות לבבו לטובה.

ואכפול בזה עוה"פ מה שכתבתי לו מכבר, אשר צריך הוא לקבוע עתים לתורה וכן להזהר באמירת היום תהלים - כפי שנחלק לימי החדש - ומה שכתב לי פעם במכ' שטרוד הוא ביותר, הנה זוהי העצה לזה, על ידי שמראים להקב"ה אשר למרות הצמצום והדוחק, הנה אעפ"כ קובעים עתים לתורה, אזי מקיים הקב"ה מה שנאמר אם בחקותי תלכו ופי' רש"י שתהיו עמלים בתורה ביגיעה ועמל, אזי ונתתי גשמיכם בעתם, וידוע הכוונה פנימית בזה, כי גשמיכם , היינו גשמיות שלכם שגם כל הצרכיים הגשמיים יהיו בעתם ובזמנם ולא יהיו בלבולים ויוכל לעבוד את השי"ת מתוך מנוחת הנפש ומנוחת הגוף.
