To the Rav, great scholar, chassid* who has yiras Shamayim*, who possesses broad knowledge of Torah, presents and discusses it, adopts good conduct and seeks the good of his people, Rav Yitzchak Aizik[1], Chief Rabbi,

Greetings and blessings,

On the occasion of the time of the giving of our Torah, I express my blessing to you to celebrate the receiving of the perfect Torah of Hashem with joy and depth.

According to the calendar of this year, all the opinions expressed in tractate Menachos 65b agree in recognizing that the weeks, and not only the days, are complete[2].

The Rambam*, Laws of the Perpetual and Additional Sacrifices, chapter 7, paragraph 11, says: "This festival of Pesach* was celebrated on a Shabbos*, according to what the foolish ones imagine." Nevertheless, he calls them foolish only because their explanation has no sense, as the Rambam* himself emphasizes.

He further notes that "they imagined," because Moshe* left the world on 7 Adar, which was then a Shabbos* or the eve of that day, as the commentators on the Shulchan Aruch* Orach Chaim, chapter 292, indicate. And the Rambam* writes himself, in his introduction: "Moshe* our master compiled the entirety of the Torah before leaving this world and then transmitted it."

All this was therefore on the morrow of Pesach*, in the year of their entry into Eretz Yisroel*, a Tuesday or a Wednesday. As is well known, the rule according to which the first day of Pesach* cannot be a Monday, a Wednesday, or a Friday did not yet apply at that time.

I hope that your state of health has improved, and I ask Hashem to send you a complete recovery, that you may regain your strengths as quickly as possible.

I know that you appreciate the commentaries on the Torah and the sichos* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. I therefore send you the kuntres* edited on the occasion of the festival of Shavuos*, this year, which has just appeared.

לקראת זמן מתן תורתנו הבע"ל, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי, שנחוג את חג קבלת תורת הוי' תמימה בשמחה ובפנימיות.

ובקביעות שנה זו ה"ה לכולא עלמא שבע שבתות תמימות ג"כ (מנחות סה, ב) ולא רק ימים תמימים.

- ומש"כ הרמב"ם: שאותו הפסח בשבת אירע כמו שדמו הטפשים (הל' תו"מ פ"ז הי"א), י"ל דקורא להם טפשים כי אין תירוצם תירוץ, וכמו שמסיים הרמב"ם שם. וכותב ע"ז שדמו , כי משה שנסתלק בז' באדר הי' זה בשבת או בער"ש (נסמן בנ"כ שו"ע או"ח סרצ"ב, ובהקדמת הרמב"ם: כל התורה כתבה מ"ר קודם שימות בכת " י ונתן כו'). וא"כ הי' ממחרת הפסח דשנת כניסתם לארץ ביום ג' (ולא קבלו אז עדיין הכלל דלא בד"ו פסח, והדברים עתיקים), או ד'. -

הנני מקוה כי בריאות כת"ר הוטבה כראוי, ואני תפלה שישלח לו השי"ת רפואה קרובה וישוב לאיתנו בקרוב ממש.
