To the distinguished chassid* who has yiras Shamayim* and dedicates himself faithfully to communal needs, Rav Yom Tov[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I read with pleasure your letter, in which you describe the development and the success of the Lubavitch Yeshiva* of Boston. You also speak of your action and of your collaboration on behalf of the Yeshiva*.

I still remember your warm words when we met, shortly after the histalkus* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, to speak of the institutions that he founded. I am convinced that you will continue to bring your fruitful collaboration to all the institutions of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, and that you will convince your friends and acquaintances to do the same. All this, as our holy books affirm, will bring you success in your personal concerns.

You ask me whether to have additional rooms built in the building of the Yeshiva*. The place, indeed, is too narrow and cannot accommodate all the students wishing to attend the Yeshiva*. This investment must cost several thousand dollars, and certain members wonder about its appropriateness.

To refuse children who wish to pursue their studies at the Yeshiva* is totally forbidden. Moreover, this will tarnish the reputation of the Yeshiva*, chas v'shalom*, and the donations it receives will be diminished. The situation, as you describe it, therefore presents no other alternative. Classes must be added to this building, and without doubt the other members will adopt this project. May Hashem grant that all this be fruitful.

We approach the days of Shavuos*, the time of the giving of our Torah[2]. The Midrash* relates that Hashem then asked for guarantors. The holy Patriarchs and the shepherds of Israel were proposed to Him, but He considered that this was not sufficient. Then the children of Israel said that their children would be the guarantors, that they would be taught Torah and educated in Yiddishkeit*. It was then that Hashem agreed to give His holy Torah.

Such is therefore the lesson that we must all learn. One of the necessary preparations to receive the Torah is the strengthening of the action on behalf of the education of Jewish children.

I ask you to transmit my greetings and my blessing to all the teachers of the Yeshiva*, as well as to all those who lend their support to it, materially and spiritually, in particular to the great rabbanim*, distinguished chassidim* who have yiras Shamayim* and dedicate themselves faithfully to communal needs, Rav Zuber and Rav Castel.

I address my blessing to you to receive the Torah joyously and deeply.

שלום וברכה!

בעונג קראתי מכתבו בו כותב אודות ההתקדמות וההצלחה בעבודת

הישיבה אחי תמימים בבוסטון ,ועל עבודתו וסיועו הקבועים לישיבה.

עודני זוכר את דבריו החמים ,כאשר נפגשנו זמן קצר לאחר

ההסתלקות של כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר זצוקללה״ה נבג״מ זי״ע אודות

המוסדות של חמי כ״ק אדמו״ר ,ובטוחני שגם להבא ימשיך את עבודתו

הטובה בעד כל המוסדות של כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר זצוקללה״ה נבג״מ זי״ע

וגם ישפיע על מכיריו וידידיו למשוך אותם לעבודה ,וזה עצמו -כפי שמובא

בספרים -יביא הצלחה בעניניו הפרטיים.

בנוגע לשאלתו והצעה לבנות מחדש עוד כמה חדרים באותו בנין של

הישיבה ,כי המקום הנוכחי צר מדי ואינו יכול להכיל את כל התלמידים

שרוצים להכנס לישיבה ,אלא שזה צריך לעלות כמה אלפי דולרים וכמה

מהחברים מתלבטים אם לעשות זאת,

לדחות ילדים שמעונינים להכנס ללמוד בישיבה ,הנה מלבד זאת שדבר

זה עצמו אסור לעשות ,זה גם יביא ח״ו נזק לשמה הטוב של הישיבה ,ובמילא

גם נזק בהכנסה של הישיבה ,ולפי איך שהוא מציג את המצב שאין ברירה

אחרת אלא לבנות מחדש את החדרים של בנין הישיבה הקיים ,בטח גם שאר

החברים יסכימו לזה ,והשם יתברך יתן שזה יהי׳ בהצלחה.

אנו נמצאים כעת קרוב לימי חג השבועות ,זמן מתן תורה ,מובא

במדרש שלפני מתן תורה הקב״ה ביקש ערבויות ,ולא קיבל את הערבות של

האבות הקדושים וגם לא של רועי ישראל כמספקת ,עד שבני ישראל אמרו

א׳כה

מוה״ר יום טוב :פרילוק ,קנטון מסצ׳וסץ.

שילדיהם יהיו הערבים ,שילמדו אותם תורה ויחנכו אותם ביהדות ,ורק אז

השי״ת הסכים לתת את התורה הקדושה .וזה צריך להיות מוסר השכל

לכולנו ,שאחת מההכנות לקבל את התורה ,היא פעילות מוגברת בחינוך

ילדי ישראל.

אבקש למסור את ברכתי פ״ש לכל המלמדים בישיבה והמסייעים

לישיבה בגשמיות וברוחניות ,וביחוד להרה״ג והרה״ח הוו״ח אי״א נו״מ

עוסק בצ״צ באמונה וכו׳ וכו׳ הרב זובר והרב קסטל יחיו.

בברכת קבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.

מצו״ב השיחה מל״ג בעומר ,שנדפסה לא מכבר ,אשר אני בטוח

שתעניין אותו.
