To the distinguished chassid* who has yiras Shamayim*, Rav David Aryeh[1],

Greetings and blessings,

Enclosed you will find a receipt for your contribution, which I have devoted to our educational work in North Africa. This help comes in its proper time, for this work has, thank Hashem, developed greatly, and it must continue to do so.

For many years, the educational conditions in the countries of North Africa have been particularly unfavorable, because of the immense poverty that reigned and for lack of those responsible and of leaders ready to assume this role.

But, thank Hashem, the situation has taken a positive turn this past year, thanks to the educational institutions that we have founded there — yeshivos*, elementary yeshivos*, Talmud Torah* schools for little boys and for little girls, evening classes for those who have a professional occupation, a teachers' training seminary recruiting staff from among the local youth[2].

Our program aims at establishing Talmud Torah* schools and yeshivos* in every city and village of North Africa. It also includes material aid, in the form of food and clothing. Obviously, it represents a considerable budget. Now, it is a considerable and rare merit to take part in this action, introduced on the initiative of my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

I hope that those who cherish the Torah in general and the chassidim* in particular will strive to bring their contribution. Thus, they will forge the widest channels for receiving blessing and success, material and spiritual.

I send a message[3] for your son, Mr. Zalman Yaakov, and I wish that he may return home in good health[4].
